| DATES FOR 2008 INDOOR CLUB MEETINGS: | ![]() | ASTEROID 1999KW4 flyby of Earth on May 26, 2001.We finally found the asteroid just as sunrise made the stars fade out. These 4 frames cover a time period of 12 minutes and an area of 5x7 arc minutes. The asteroid's image is streaked due to it's movement during exposure as the camera is tracking the stars. (Notice that the size of the image frame changes, the asteroid moves across the frame, but the stars stay in the same place.) JPL info & More |
In addition to the regular indoor meetings, we also have a full schedule of OUTDOOR STAR GAZES for viewing. We meet on Friday nights around dark, and use Saturday nights as a bad weather backup. Usually this is the weekend nearest the New Moon, but please check with a club member (or use the "Yahoo!Groups" link) before the star gazes to confirm the meeting time and location.
